Yikes Am I being too cheap !?

I've started thinking about a 3 bin soft bagger for my GTH248T,and sears is selling them for $ 459.99 . Plus sales tax we're talking aroun $500. Talk about sticker shock! I'm sorry, I AM new to this market,but........holy cow !
Anyone know where I can get one cheaper, errrr, less expensive ?

A lot of times Sears stores will have "season-end" sales....just what is there @ that time--have to check every week or so--walk the floor--ask the sales people--talk it up @ work also....

Also- did you have a Sears "scratch-dent-retail center" in ur area? Lower prices there sometimes...
Also go on-line and join the "Sears tool' club--gets a catalog in the mail every month with sales specials.....
Last option--keep an eye on ur local paper in the classifieds....
The more time, you have to deal--the more you can save...

We luvs a Deal!

Hi Glenn, thanks for your reply. Nah, no "scratch & dent" store around here. I did sign up for any online specials though.

Check ebay too. There's a guy on there that surplus craftsman stuff like deck shells, he may have baggers too.

In the meantime you could switch to gator blades and cut often enough to not need bagging.

After I bought my mower I wanted a bagger too. And like you, - OUCH! - sticker shock deterred me. After a few beers (and a bunch of posts about gator/mulching blades) I decided mulching was better for my lawn anyway (and left more money for beer ).

Wonder what the difference is? The tires would only be an inch different. Maybe you would have to fab an extension on the mounting bracket and/or chute? Too bad you can't compare them side-by-side.

Can you get the model # of the one you need and then we can get the model # off these on ebay and compare the parts breakdown. Might only be a few small items. I can't see them doing anything major because of a tire extending an extra inch.

I agree CatDaddy, or another choice would be a pull behind sweeper. I usually mow the clippings to the inside and the last couple of runs get all of it up. They run around $200 here, plus you won't have to mow at full throttle to get it to work correctly.
I don't have the mulcher kit yet but it may be the thing later on in the year.

six chows, here're the two different ones @ sears : I'm going to see if I can find the manuals to see where the difference is. I'm not too good at this, but I guess I can consider it part of the "hobby" :-)
The one I need( 22"-23" wheels ) -Sears

item #07124895000 Mfr. model #24895

The other one - ( 20" wheels ) - Sears item

#07124893000 Mfr. model #24893

We need to find out who makes them for sears. I tried the prefix for agri-fab 486 and that didn't work. Also tried 917 for AYP and that didn't work either.

Anyone have a sears bagger attachment? Could you check the #'s on the front of your manual?
