Flood & Sand

I keep an RV along the Susquahanna Rive in upsate PA. Lasts years floods left a good layer of sand, up to a foot in spots, on my nice grass. I got it cleaned up the best I can with my loader. However what is left I'm sure will not support grass.

I need to turn the soil. York rake on the tractor and keep going over it untill it is well mixed or would it be better to get a tiller and till down a good 6 - 8 inches.

Suggestions for fertilizer?

Thanks for the input.

Re: Flood & Sand

If you have a well established yard...........get as much as you can off and the sand will actually help the grass in the long run.
Most stadiums put a layer of sand on top of the turf several times a year............REAL TURF that is

Re: Flood & Sand

Robert is right about the sand. My uncle has a place that is all sand. I mean dig down four feet and its still sand. He has the nicest lawn i have ever seen and yet he does nothing to it.
