Another victory for MMO! Revived a seized motor
So I get this email from my neighbor...
I have a new Toro, emphasis on new. Yes, I finally replaced my 14 year old craftsman mower. Unfortunately I was away when the new mower was purchased and my oldest didnít put enough oil in the engine so it burned out the first time it was used. Sadly the toro repair said there wasnít anything to do as a new engine would cost as much as a new mower. Costly lesson for my son to learn about having enough oil in an engine. Would you like the mower for your parts repair? If so, let me know when you will be around and I will drop it off. Thanks.
he dropped off the mower yesterday and it was indeed seized up. I decided to overfill the crankcase and combustion chamber with MMO and then let it sit for an hour while i had supper. I drained the MMO (too expensive to dump) into the back into its jug. I put the normal 19.5 oz of HD30 oil in then I turned the mower on its side then slowly turned the blade back and forth. The dang motor was now "unseized"! It started right up. To really test it, I let it run for 30 minutes with no issues.
MMO is just awesome. I decided not to be a hog so I emailed the owner telling him it is fixed and he can pick it up.
