Adding charging system to honda GX390 engine

I would like to add a charging system to my 13hp Honda GX390 engine. It is trailer mounted for a power washing rig. I would like to add some work lights, and an electric jack and a 12v motor/ignitor for the hot water setup. I know I cant use it all at once and thats fine, but itd be better than having to be plugged into the truck all the time for that stuff to work.

What do I need to add this system to a non-electric start engine. It needs to be the biggest charging system they make for this engine. 16 amps or so?

You will need a flywheel with the magnets inside of it, the stator coils that mount to the block under the flywheel, should be some wiring with the stator ring as well.

The magnets on this engine I thought were bolt on, so you could buy the magnets and bolt them into the flywheel. Not sure tho thats why i'm asking questions. Also I think there is a regulator that would be needed? But im not sure.

Best bet would be to find a junkyard GXV390 off a riding mower and rob the flywheel, charging system, etc...

GXV340 is the same block with a smaller bore, etc...

I dont think you can bolt on magnets, they are epoxy'd on at the factory in specific intervals to maintain the correct spacing and balance.

The GXV is a vertical shaft engine. I am working on a GX (horizontal shaft) engine. Will they still use the same parts?

I know that Briggs and Stratton engines have the magnets epoxied in but I was thinking the Honda setup was alot different.

They are going to be epoxy'd in.

The GX and GXV engines are nearly identical some aspects. It was cost efficient to crossover the flywheels, and charging systems, ignition, etc.

The GXV engines with a charging system are much much more common because they were usually on a lawn mower with electric start which meant they had a battery to recharge.

Horiz. shaft engines with a charging system are not nearly as common. In fact of the nearly 18 sideshaft engines in my shed right now, only 1 has a charging system. and all my verticals have them.
