farmall 400 fluids

I am new to tracors, but I already love my 4oo. But, I cannot figure out exactly where to check and fill the hyfraulics or gear oil. I know where to chek the engine oil, but I am not sure where to fill it. What type of fluids does it use? Please help!

Thanks

The engine oil filler is on the right-side on the engine, the filler neck/cap is on the timing cover. The hydraulic tower is under the steering column. There should be a plug on the side, it is the filler and there is also a dipstick on it to see the oil level. Hydraulic oil works well in the hydraulics, 10w30 or 10w40 works good in the engine, use 80-90 gear lube or hy-tran in the transmission. You should buy a owners manual, it will help a lot.

Re: farmall 400 fluids

I belive IH calls for SAE30 in the engine, and gear oil 80w90, in the transmission. Im pretty sure you do not want to use Hy-Tran in that transmission, but I could be wrong. As Andy said, an owners/operators manual is what you need.
