Re: 5th gear lock out?
That's sort of what I thought too. But where it (the shift lever) binds up before hardly moving into 5th, I'm thinking something else. It shifts really well, smooth and easy into R, 1st thru 4th.
When I first noticed the problem, I put it into 5th and let out the clutch and got that gear teeth buzzing noise until it kicked itself out of gear. Tried it again thinking I might have tranny troubles and noticed that it will not go into 5th all the way. I'm talking maybe a 1/4 inch of throw at the handle end of the gear shift when coming out of neutral into 5th, then it stops.
Now my "M" has a lot more throw to the shift lever going into 5th and so does my Super C. Plus you can feel the detents popping into the fork rail slots to hold the thing gear. Same with that H, just not on 5th gear as the shift lever just doesn't move into 5th far enough to lock in.
I've had another International that had the tranny trouble that your speaking of and this is indeed different in the way it acts. On that one, you could put it into gear and then it would pop out. This H isn't even really getting into gear.
So I'm still stumped.
