JDFANATIC - would love to see an article aimed for those of us strapped for cash, but want something new and within a tighter budget ($1500-$2000, maybe $2300). Seems like every time there is a thread posted on on here, folks chime in with get the x500, x700 series John Deere, which is completely unrealistic to many of us who are on much leaner tighter budgets.

Would love to see an article that hashes out the Cub Cadet XT1 (maybe XT2), John Deer 100 and 200 series (S240 can be had for $2300 with the current rebate program), and even others like Craftsman and even Simplicity.

I saw your article on the JD S240, which is what I am leaning hard towards. There is really no in-depth articles on the 100-series of the John Deere lawn tractors, or the XT1 series. From researching, what I gathered was that the JD 100-series tractors have a weaker transmission than the Club Cadet XT1 and the 200+ series John Deere tractors, which may contribute to a tractor shorter life.

Realistically, what tasks are fair game for these tractors? Everyone chimes in with 'Get a big expensive large tractor,' which is typically of the motorcycle forums I frequent as well. I doubt that is really a solution, as the manufacturers sell plow blades, trailers, snow blowers, and a number of other accessories as well.

A great article would be for the newbie starting out, and what is out there, and what the limitations of those entry level models would be.

Hi Mike,
Thanks for the input. I'll have a chat with my editor about the concept. :)
