Hey North East is everybody ready for Tuesday's storm?

This looks to be the biggest sortm of the season and could be crippling in some areas. Predictions are calling for a large swath of 12-18". I gassed up the tractors then filled the fuel cans. Checked that the tractors are ready. I just used the generator recently so I didn't test it, but it is in position if it's needed. I still need to police the driveway. We had a strong windstorm then about 3" of snow. I'm hoping most of the snow melts away tomorrow so I can clear the hidden branches out of the drive. I know there are a number that will easily break a shearbolt.

I'm looking forward to on (hopefully) last use of the model 47 blower for the season. Get prepared and stay safe everybody.

Re: Hey North East is everybody ready for Tuesday's storm?

You guys are lucky. The only use my 3pt snowblower has had in two months, sadly, has been as a counterweight for doing loader work to move firewood around. No snow in sight in the near future, either. Poor thing only legitimately got about 3 uses this year, the largest maybe being a 5"-6" "storm." The others were only a couple inchers that melted within a few days

The salt banks (giant piles down at the shipping docks) barely have dents in them. It's been a REALLY mild winter in West Michigan.

Re: Hey North East is everybody ready for Tuesday's storm?

The NWS start broadcasting a winter storm warning this afternoon. The warning starts at midnight on Monday and expires on Wednesday at 8 PM. Heavy snow, 2 to 3 inches a hour and snow totals of 10 to 18 inches. I'm ready and waiting.

Re: Hey North East is everybody ready for Tuesday's storm?

I removed branches from the driveway today and the tractor is all fueled up, but by mid-March I look forward to getting the tractor into Spring mode. So far, they are predicting warmer weather for next week, so a quick melt down will be welcome.

Re: Hey North East is everybody ready for Tuesday's storm?

Tested the generator, and x585 with plow gassed up. Also ran the walk behind snow blower. Predicting a heavy snow for my area. Not sure the blower is what will be needed. Last weekend I almost pulled the plow and put on the mower. Glad I didn't do that.

Our hope is not in the things that are seen

Re: Hey North East is everybody ready for Tuesday's storm?

Got the Kubby BX25 fueled up and ready.

Also, some extra diesel in cans, and all the vehicles topped off.

Going to put the new(to me) diesel to the snow for the first time. Looking forward to it. JD 4120, 43hp turbo with 4wd. I hope I get to plow the whole neighborhood for free, lol! Snow baby, snow!

Have fun in the snow everyone, and please be safe

Re: Hey North East is everybody ready for Tuesday's storm?

Blizzard warning here with 12-18 inches of snow predicted. I've got my snow movers, and back ups ready to go. I have extra fuel on hand for the generator, but also picked up enough fuel line to be able to syphon fuel from the vehicles in case of a prolonged power outage. I'll be pulling the generator out, test running it, and setting it up today.

Ellis, I didn't know you picked up the Deere! You should have a lot of fun using it.

Bring on the SNOW!

We are getting it today. Late tonight the wind is suppose to start to shift and come out of the north east then we'll get lake effect tomorrow. Only predicting 4 to 6 inches today. They can never predict lake effect.

Re: Hey North East is everybody ready for Tuesday's storm?

We're in the 12-18 range too. Blizzard warning also. Thought about starting the blower on the way home from work, forgot after I got home. Oh well, the Honda (walk-behind) usually starts without issue, and I've used it a few times this year, so should be good to go.
