The pictures in my C12 manual show many shots of the 40 inch deck as pictured by the op. It looks IDENTICAL to my 8123 belly deck. With the necessary brackets to make it front mount. I'm going to purchace bracket kits someday and make my 8123 belly deck a front mount deck.
................ Gravelys, Jd's and Simplicity's as long as they are vintage and can earn a days pay I'm a happy guy................
Well sure enough I have one - if I didn't believe it before I do now. Looks like OEM white paint - strange thing is that the quick hitch is white as well - I haven't seen a white colored quick hitch before. Haven't looked underneath yet to check condition - my apologies for yanking the thread off course.
And you need to take it down a notch 3-Banger. This is suppose to be friendly forum with some civility, not one of overt criticism.
With regards to this silly 40" deck issue, I asked the guys if they were sure they were right - it turns out they were - and I acknowledged that. Unlike others I know, I sometimes get things wrong and unlike many others I know, I'll say I did.
I believe the wordage in my postings was polite enough. Beyond that, it was interesting to learn that I in fact owned a certain type of mowing deck that I hadn't been aware of/paid attention to before.
YES, we are ABSOLUTELY "sure that Gravely made a 40" deck in that style". You can instantly tell if its a 40" or 50" by looking at the width between the belt cover & outside edge of deck opposite the discharge. A 40" only has room to put 1 hand down. When you compare to a 50" it's additional width will jump out at you.
You need to bone up on your GRAVELY history. GRAVELY 1st made the heavy duty rectangular 40" deck, then came the 40" deck in Q that looks so much like the 50" deck, finally came the 40" deck in "the kidney-shaped" design.
