If you found a particular brand and color of paint that matches your Lawnboy (or other brand) mower, go ahead and post it here. Feel free to post some photos as well!

Re: We need a paint color sticky

Toro sells their 361-10 red spray paint but it's pricey--$12 a can. Anyone know of a cheaper substitute?

Anybody find out a cheaper substitute for the toro paint? Also where can you get the toro paint? I tried my local lawnboy store and it was 20 bucks a can. I could handle 12 bucks if needed, but not 20. I would like to find a substitute for 6 bucks like the grabber green

Ok, here are the only 2 that I am for sure of.

Dupli-color Grabber Green- for the standard, most popular Lawnboy green.

Rust-oleum Chevy Orange - for the orange steel commercial wheels.

Can we keep this sticky to only known colors that people have proven work and are as close to the original colors as you can possibly get rather then guessing and speculation? Otherwise it will get so gummed up and long that it will be useless as a reference.

Hummm, I don't know if anyone ever sees this thread since they tucked it away in a seperate section... But I'll give it a shot.

I was wondering what green you have found for a match for this LB green? Wanting to touch-up/repaint the lower section of the handle on my 8480, as a good portion of the paint has peeled off! Closest thing I found (and it's darn close) is a can of Rustoleum Hunter Green. I had it already in the cabinet... Is that about as close as it gets?

A second part to this post, how are you guys "touching up" little spots? Have no desire or need to repaint the whole deck, but as you can see in this pic there is a few places where the paint is chipped off. Can a person spray some grabber green in a little plastic container and use a artist's paint brush to apply it directly into the hole? The left side of the deck is skinned up a little as well, but I think I could tape off the side and just spray that... Or just leave it alone?

Y'all can rest easy. I found a powder coat color that matches my 7022 EXACTLY! The color is RAL 6018. If you want more info, go to Walk Behind-"7022 to powder coater". Powder coating is durable and magnesium decks CAN be done. My coater will sell enough to do your mower(s) which is a huge help. Y'all let me know if you need more info or help with questions for Mario. Later--

I tried the Duplicolor Candy Apple Green which was close enough for full area jobs...you might take your machine to an auto paint shop and have them scan and mix a custom color for your touch-up work...a little expensive but they can provide you with both a spray and touch up versioin of your LB color.

BTW....how much would I expect to pay to have LB's stripped and powder coated?

Thanks..I'll be looking for that one...

I did make a mistake and mis-identified the Duplicolor brand color...it is an engine enamel and is called Grabber Green...seems to be a good match for the Toro Lawn Boys...I still would go with the custom paint match (I think they could do it as a clearcoat.) It would be closer to the original OMC LB Green.

Another discovery for y'all! I took one of my wheel adjust assemblies to the powder coater today, this time BEFORE I used the wire wheel to buff it off--and showed him the finish in a protected place. He pulled out a sample metal that had the code RAL 9006 marked on it. He held it up to the assembly and it looked just right. Didn't match exactly, mind you, but DID look like it was the original finish--you know how the new looks right when compared to the original that's been in service for nearly 40 years. So, there you have it--a virtual match for the tin/zinc finish as well as a perfect match for the green. I'm really anxious to see it all done.

If y'all send stuff to Mario for coating, mention that you heard about him from me.

I restored a 1970 1015 edger and used Rustoleum Engine Enamel in grabber green. My profile pic is the final product. I have more pics on this restoration. If you want to see them I can post them in my gallery.

I have touched up a couple of Lawn Boys, but I did not go for a close match color. I spend the extra money and got Lawn Boy Leaf Green.

Hi. I'm new to this Forum and thread, which I know is old. However, I've just begun to restore my father's old '57 Lawn Boy Model 5100 with the C-12 Engine. I'm trying to locate the best color match for the deck and engine shroud. What color is best for the deck? The Leaf Green or the Moss Green mentioned in a couple of posts. And, what's the best brownish red for the engine shroud? Thanks in advance for your help.

Does anyone know of a commercially available rattle can color green for the mid-50s Iron Horses? I've been looking around, haven't found anything, and am about ready to go have some custom-matched. But thought I'd shout out here first in case I'm missing something...

I'm doing the same thing right now. I've done tons of searching and the only one I've come up with is Rustoleum Moss Green.
Now I'm trying to find out what a close match would be for the red shroud color. If anyone knows could they please post it here.

I realize that this is an older thread but I finished restoring a 3003 a few months ago. It was the buttercup color. I had a really hard time finding information on this particular color. I spent some time trying to find a rattle can that matched the original butter cup color. By accident my 10 year old son pointed this out to me in a Lowe's. " hey dad, that looks like the buttercup right there" Sure enough. Valspar Oatlands Daisy. Lowe's item number 416278. I could only find it in a flat finish. I cleared it with Duplicolor Auto Grade Clear to help with fuel resistance. I primed and painted the deck. I wasn't sure how the Valspar would react with the Duplicolor so I let the paint bake in the sun, in my driveway for about 15 days before I cleared it. It turned out beautifully. There were a few painted areas on the mower that were hidden from the sun. I was able to do a side by side comparison during the process and if it wasn't exact, it was really really close. Just thought I'd share.

Just painted the flywheel screen on my 3054 using Testor's hobby spray paint in Sublime Green. There was a fair amount of paint on the back of the screen for reference and this was a very good match. Bill

Repaint on left. Original backside on right.
