My son has wanted a pulling tractor and we finally found one for the right price. It was advertised as a Cub Cadet with Allis Chalmers sheet metal.

I thought we were getting a roller chasis, instead we got this:

Given enough time and assembly and disassembly, I'm sure we could make it work. I would prefer to know that I am getting everything in the right place the first time. My son thinks this a a model 100. Does that sound right? The only numbers that he found were on the axle.

Any help or info you can give would be appreciated.http://www.mytractorforum.com/images/icons/help.gif

Thanks, Zufrieden

Was wondering if you were able to make any progress on the tractor puzzle? When you said a Cub and a 100 I took a look at the Cub 100 I have in the shed. Unfortunately for me I can't see the resemblance, although mine doesn't have any rear fenders so that doesn't help. Wish I was more help but still was curious how it was going, or even if it is?

I don't think you did bad there. $30 bucks for a solid rear with a nice set of sheet metal. If the whole drive line is there, all you need is to get it assembled, running, and doled up and you can have a good starting point. I don't have a puller or anything, but you can start with a stock tractor, and go as far as your son wants as he gains experience/ interest. and if he loses interest your not in in to deep. It could be a 100 as the frame and rear look like it. Its definitely a cub rear. Maybe some of the cub guys can give you an idea of whats what, and what models you can get any parts you need from.

We worked on it over winter in the basement. It is all together, less the engine. We need a starter and clutch assembly. We also need to find how much oil it's supposed to hold. We filled it to the add line and it started leak out of a side cover, above the crankshaft. That can't be right! Once we get a starter, we'll see what happens. Points gap is way off too.
