Re: Ingersoll 3014
I own a very similar 3012 (see picture). I dont have my exact year but i believe it's around 1995-1998. Mine has a 12.5 hp Briggs vanguard V-twin. Purchased it several years ago with about 225 hours on the meter. I paid $1300-$1400 I believe. Mine has a 44" deck.
Very solid machine and I love it. Even with 600 hours, if it runs good, was maintained, $900 is a fair price. I got a really good deal on mine. Worse case scenerio ....a replacement engine will run you $500-900 (new). The tractor itself is heavy duty and should be with my family for years to come. Ive only had some minor problems.
Personally I would rather have a solid quality used machine than a brand new cheap machine. Of course, I feel the same way about cars. A new Ingy will set you back $6000-$7000. By all means, stay away from "home depot" type machines. I dont believe that the newer John Deere's (on the low price end) are quality machines anymore. I wouldnt feel comfortable pulling a 600lb lawn roller with many of the cheaper tractors available at Home depot or sears
