I have a 1969 Ford 4500 two wheel drive backhoe tractor. Starts fine. Drives fine. Bucket and backhoe operate. Tractor runs at idle speed only. Throttle handle operates cable that goes to foot throttle on right side of tractor. Neither throttle handle or foot pedal will raise speed of engine. Any ideas what would cause this. Does the arm on side of tractor by your foot that operates from throttle handle and foot pedal also go into side of frame. There does not seem to be a connection there.
The rod going forward from that assembly goes two different places depending on whether it has a gasoline or diesel engine. Since you didn't mention which engine yours has I'll list both. On the gasoline engine it goes to the governor linkage, which in turn is connected to the governor and carburetor. On the diesel engine it goes to a lever on the injector pump.
Thank you for the help. I really appreciate it. The linkage from the injector pump was disconnected from the hand throttle arm linkage. Item 17 on the diagram. Works fine now. Thanks again.
Pictures of your tractor are always welcome (and some of us have an unexplainable need to see them).
