Hello, friends.

I'm looking at changing out some super old hydraulic hoses for my bucket, checking out an oil leak, and changing out all of the fluids. Since I just bought it last fall, I figure it can't hurt to do that before I bush hog my field.

My question is, my book tells me I am to use the following:

9 quarts M-4864-A Hydraulic Oil
8 quarts SAE 80 Extreme Pressure Lubricant (Tranny)
4 quarts SAE 20 Engine oil 5 if changing the filter, too. (Who in the world changes their oil, and not the filter!?!)

I'm a newbie. Is it safe to use UTF in place of the first two listed?

The rear axle/differential is a separate sump on that model, so don't forget to change that as well. You can use UTF in there also. Lots of folks use UTF in all three (trans, hydraulics and rear axle) to avoid cross-contamination if the seals between them leak.

Actually it is a REALLY good idea to use UTF in all 3 chambers because with the age of the machine unless you know for sure the seals have been replaced you will get cross contamination like Sean mentioned. Plus it reduces the number of lubricants you need.
