Hi,
I am new to the tractor world. I have 4-6 acres to mow and a 500 yard long driveway to maintain and remove snow from. I have a chance to pickup a 1976 ford 2000 diesel with flail mower, box plow, and scoop for $2900. The thing is that it has not run in a year. The old man that owned it passed away and it has been parked in a barn for the last year. What am I getting into here? I figure: Drain fuel, flush tank with kerosene, disconnect fuel lines and blow them out, change filters, new battery and then try to start her up. I would also go through and check and change all of the other fluids. How hard should it be to get this running? Is there anything else I need to worry about fixing because it sat for a year? Is this the right choice of tractor for my needs? I would like a bucket, but finding a decent tractor with a bucket for under $4000 is not easy. Thanks in advance for your help.
