I am having a hard time finding out the year of the tractor that came with the farm I bought. I took a photo of the serial number. CL I7822. Can anybody help decode it? Thanks!

1horse is right. That's the ID tag for the loader. 19-529 is the frame of a 730 series loader.

He also gave you good information on where to look for the tractor's numbers. Another place the tractor's numbers might be is on a foil sticker on the underside of the right hood panel, above the battery. That is if the sticker is still there and still legible.

I went to the New Holland parts lookup site. New Holland owns the legacy of the Ford tractor brand and any parts that are still available are available through the New Holland tractor dealer network. The model numbers on the tags for Ford implements, like loaders, mowers, plows, etc. usually are in the format I9-xxx. They used the capital "I" instead of the number 1 for some reason when they stamped them, but the model numbers are actually 19-xxx so when you look things up you replace the I with the number 1. So on the New Holland parts lookup site I typed in 19-529 as the model number and hit Enter, and it came back with:

(19-529) - FRAME ASSEMBLY W/FLOAT, 730 SERIES (1/69-12/81)

Then, if you type in 730 into the model number it comes back with whole bunch of things, one of which is:

(730 SERIES) - FORD LOADER (1/75-7/80)

If they are showing as out of stock they may be no longer available. What parts are you looking for? There may be third party aftermarket alternatives.

NRedneck,

Outer air filter. (part no E6NN9B618AB) I found this aftermarket part:
UF19000 Outer Air Filter Element---Replaces E6NN9B618AB

But before I order, I want to find the serial number of the tractor to make sure it is what I think it is. It is a 335, but may not be a 1979 as I was told. The above part is for tractors made before May 1975...

Do you have an aftermarket parts place you can recommend?

I ordered a part from completetractor before, they were fine.

I use a lot of different suppliers depending on what the part is and who has the best price on that particular part.

Once you determine the proper Ford/New Holland part number for your filter, I would go to wixfilters.com and use the filter lookup tool on their web site to find out if they have a filter that cross references. If they do you can usually get one at your local NAPA or other big box auto parts chain, although they may have to order it for you as they probably don't keep them stocked on the shelves.

That part number is actually for diesel 335's made prior to April 1, 1976, and for all years on 335's with a gasoline engine. But that part number as been superseded by part number 84541248, and cross references to Wix part number 42505.

For diesel engine 335's made on or after April 1, 1976, the original part number for the outer filter was 81866975, which has been superseded by part number 84539217, and cross references to Wix part number 42532.

There should be an easy way to tell if yours uses the earlier filter or the later filter even without knowing the exact date that your tractor was made. The parts diagrams show that the earlier filter part number is used in a filter housing that has the access cover on the left side of the nose of the tractor (your left side when you are seated on the tractor). The later filter part number is used in a housing that has the access cover on the right side of the nose of the tractor.

That is great info NRedneck. Many thanks. My housing is on the right. I can order a new filter.

Now only if I could find the serial number. Sticker is gone and i cannot see where the earlier reference site suggests it might be. I think that is for earlier Ford tractors.

I was told mine is a 1979.

Anybody out there with the same tractor that could help?

Find the starter. It is on the right side of the tractor as you are sitting on the seat, down low at the rear of the engine. It is probably obscured somewhat by the loader frame. Just above and rearward from the starter are a pair of large bolt holes in the transmission bell housing. The loader frame may have a bracket bolted to one or both of those holes. Just above those large bolt holes is a flat spot that faces up. The Model Number, Serial Number and Unit Number should be stamped into that flat spot. The numbers may be hard to find due to many layers of old paint having filled them in.

After some scrubbing the 3 numbers became sufficiently visible. I tried to decode, but the model number lookup didn't work on the new Holland site and thr springfieldbiz.com site seems to be valid only to 1975. Can you guys help with the model number?

CU214B (3000 series diesel?)
7K14B (Oct 14, 1977 day shift I think)
C552584 (Made in the USA)

#16 · (Edited)
Model #--------CU214B----(CU2 = 335/ 1 = Diesel / 4= Independent 540 PTO / B=??? 6 forward & 2 reverse)
Production #--7K14B------(1977 / October / 14th / Day shift)
Serial #--------C552584---(C = built in USA / S/N 552584 in the year 1977)

Random Info. from the 'net:
The 335 was an industrial version of the 3600. Replaced the earlier 3400 Utility model.
