We bought a 6610 (has NH on the steering wheel), it slips out of the odd gears, and has almost 8000 hours.

We called up more salvage yards with no luck. Looks like the piece would have fit from the 3000, but then we lost the clip. We ordered a new column last week and got the tractor running last night, finished and used it today.

The damaged part

We were going to use it but we could get the final pieces

What would cause the tractor to not grip the odd gears? If I hold the shiftier up it stays in gear, if I don't the gears slip out.

I'm not sure what transmission yours has. The 6610 had a syncro and a non-syncro 8 speed available, both and the non-syncro was also available with dual power.

I'm not that familiar with any of those transmissions, but from the parts drawings it looks like they all had detente springs and balls to keep them in each gear. My first suspicion would be worn detente balls and/or springs, and then maybe the linkage might be worn for the column shifter.

The Tie Rod are giving out and I ordered: C7NN3281A. I was just wondering what was the difference between the other two to three because there were different options. Anyone know what the difference was?
The description for C7NN3281A says "TIE-ROD Rod Assembly LH L/FWD, Start year 01-Jan-81". The LH means the it is for the Left hand side. The L/FWD mean "Less Front Wheel Drive". So if you need the Left side tie rod and your tractor does not have FWD, then that the proper one for you.

Thank you, they both had the same part number, so I bought two of them. The tractor is 8 forward and 4 reverse.

From the looks of that parts drawing, number 6 is the tie rod tube/sleeve with the one end built into it that connects to the pivoting arm under the center of the nose of the tractor. The other end of the tie rod is labelled #7 and goes inside the tube/sleeve portion of part #6.

The little exclamation point icon next to the number 6 in the parts list on the right indicates that the original part number (D6NN3B161A) has been superseded, and the new part number is 83910195
