Project 2182 - Build Thread
New to the forum. Have been lurking around awhile and thought i would join to share a build with you guys. Not my first resto, or Cub, but it is my first Cub resto and any advice, opinions or thoughts are greatly appreciated.
I picked this 2182 up in February and it was a hot mess. Complete tractor, running engine and everything worked but needed attention. When i finally got around to messin with it, noticed that when engine warmed up it had a noticeable knock in the midrange rpm. Also was pouring oil from the front seal. I had planned to replace the seal and use it this season but during the process of replacing the seal, I noticed the crank had a good amount of play so i pulled the motor. And it was a good choice. Number 1 main was beat on pretty good and number 3 main had spun a bearing in its cap even tho the tractor had 25lbs of oil pressure warm. Anyway I had thought the crank was graveyard dead but I sent it off to Engine Power Source out of Rock Hill SC to see if it was salvageable and it turned out it was. So i ordered the corresponding bearings, new bearing carrier, rings and a full gasket kit etc.
In the meantime, I figured with the money i had just spent on engine parts, I wasnt about to put a brand new engine in a mediocre frame so I went ahead and started the whole build. Recently I have been cleaning parts, ordering parts and making a list of odds and ends stuff and this is where I am at with it. I will be posting the pics that i have taken up til now and will continue thru out the build. As mentioned earlier, any opinions, thoughts, or advice is highly welcome
Here are some pics i took when i was buying it
