Husqvarna Chainsaw 435

So to make a long story short, my brother bought a new 2015 model (or 2014) husqvarna chainsaw 435 and its been a pain; the pull cord broke and a few other problems and the place we bought it from fixed it (don't think so). This saw didn't even have 10 hours from running it. Then two days ago we called up husqvarna and in the end (45 minutes telephone) got a new 2016 husqvarna chainsaw 435, the biggest problem is that it won't run if it get warm. My brother was using it in the shade and was able to cut down a very small tree, next he was able to cut down a median size tree and cut it to length, the last tree he cut down was the same size, when cutting up the last tree the saw died and he can't start it up again. He was only cutting with the saw for not even 2 hours. It seems it doesn't like running warm. Anyone have an idea what the problem is? We have already emailed husqvarna and are still waiting for a response.

Mike,

I am a mere hack at the mechanics of 2-cycle engines, so my thoughts are pretty basic, and likely things you've already tried.

For, what it's worth, there is a chainsaw Topic just under this one. There seems to be fewer visitors, perhaps due to mid-summer and holiday weekend activities, or maybe due to the interruption of service. But, you might find the other chainsaw experts are keeping better tabs on what is posted in the Chainsaw topic, and not noticing your post here.

Now, for some ideas on the new saw:

You say it ran for about 2 hours than died, was that on a single tank of fuel mix? I assume it was fresh mixed fuel right?

Had you (or your brother) stopped it and started it during the 2 hours it was running? Did each start take successively more effort to start?

I'm not sure about the 435, but does it have a purge bubble?

Almost all modern 2 cycle equipment have different starting procedures when starting a cold saw vs a warm saw. I assume you are following the warm saw procedures on the final restart attempt.

Did you, or he try to restart it after a lengthy cool off? Like the next day?

Sorry you are having such bad luck with two relatively new saws. There should be no issues with a saw that only has so few hours. I'd seriously look at the fuel source. I'd probably splurge on some of the ethanol free pre-mix to try to get this sorted out. Expensive, but fresh, properly mixed, high octane, and no ethanol.

Good luck

The starter coil went they said.

Was the carb ever properly adjusted and set with a tach?

Saws out of the box are so lean they are on the edge of self destruction due to EPA mandates.

It wasn't that that from what the techs said. We called them up today and they said the saw was ready (9:30 EST).

Quick update, after a lot of crap, we got a 2016 model (had to send the old model back), got it and used it and after a bit it didn't work, took it to a dealer to get it fixed and the saw worked. We didn't use it for the rest of the summer until the winter. Our new problem is that oil (bar oil) isn't coming out. No more warranty on the saw. Any recommendations?

Is the oiler screw turned towards "max"? If not, turn it up. Also, I don't know much about that model, but check out the oil pump and make sure something didn't get disconnected. Another possibility is the oil pump drive gear could have stripped. I seen that happen on a different model Husky, although the saw had been well used.

The chain oiler is not adjustable on 435, 435E or the 440E all same engine the 435 and 435E are detuned X-troq's. drain the oil from the saw and use a wire bent in to a hook and pull out oil pick up thru fill hole and clean pick up and test if it still does not oil look at oil pump it's behind the clutch you will need a tool to remove if you are going to do it your self take some pics and post and can help you out.

Been cleaning it out regularly, it spits out a little oil but still needs a new chain. It works about 75 % of time.
