Simplicity dethatcher

Sooooo blowing snow for 4mos. straight is fun and all, but I am dying to get out and play with my machine in warm weather. I am determining what I would like to have for lawn maintanance come spring; poly dump cart, plug aerator, spreader, and dethatcher.

I have been looking at the Brinly products and they look pretty nice. They are priced right and seem to have good reviews. However, their dethatcher is a tow-behind unit. I would really like to have a front-mount unit like Simplicity offers:

My question; without having to call my dealer, does anyone know where I can find one of these on-line? Secondly, does anyone other than Simplicty and JRCO (big $$$) make one of these??

Thx.

This is available from Sears it's an Agrifab front mount, see which one you like.

Re: Simplicity dethatcher

I had one from simplicity way back when I had a 7116 and it worked great. I also had a trac-vac and I would use them both at the same time get all the thatch out and suck it up.

Nice. I'd like to go with a front-mount dethatcher so I could dethatch and aerate at the same time.

Re: Simplicity dethatcher

I have a 36" front mount detatcher. You are right its the way to go. Use it in combination with a bagging system. It will pull up all the old clippings and allow you to bag them.

Re: Simplicity dethatcher

I was thinking you could adapt it to fit yours Corso, like you said the Simplicity and the JRCO one are really high in price.

It may be worth the attempt unless you just want to to bolt on one then it may be an expensive attachment to get.

The brackets look similar ?

Re: Simplicity dethatcher

I'm not sure where to get one other than Simplicity. I do know that they work very well as I had one on my Conquest and was very pleased with the function and performance. Easy on and off. The only thing you have to leave on the tractor (2 bolts) is the lift guide arm.

I used it with a tow behind sweeper as well as the turbo-bagger.

Re: Simplicity dethatcher

I've looked at a couple of the new tow behind thatchers (not the one Sears sells) and it doesn't look very difficult to adapt to for a front mount. Just swap the hitch around, cut off some length, put a couple holes in it to mount to the front, and put a swivel on it. Might be a cheaper option.
