Decent, reliable dealers in Wisconsin?

So, I am considering either selling the Conquest or trading it in. I love the machine, but I would like to move to a Prestige for the serviceable K72, the suspension, the power steering and I am thinking that the 52" fabricated deck might be better than my 50" deep stamped...maybe? Also, I am intrigued by the EFI motor.

I have had zero issues, but I feel that I use the machine a little harder than most would, and the K72 would most likely fit my needs better than my K66, plus it is nearly 50% faster. This is great for me as the trip up the hill is about 1/4 mile, but the trip down could be much quicker when empty.

I have several dealers close to me. The one just outside of town burned down. the owner is retirement age. The next closest one was visited last fall. I inquired about changing the K66 fluid. I was in school with the owner. His dad owned it prior. The dad said the fluid did not need to be changed and did not want to do it. I asked them if they could anyways. They said they would "call me" when they got a chance to do it. They never called...

I went to another dealer...a much bigger one that sells other brands and larger tractors. I originally was going to purchase from them, but...every time I went in I got a different sales person and a different price. None of them were good and all of them were trying to sell me something else instead...

There is another larger dealer that sells a lot of small engine outdoor equipment. they have multiple locations. About 15 years ago I took my prior tractor in for general service and checkup work. I also had them install the snowblower. After that, the snowblower threw belts every hour or so. something was not right but it all looked correct. I am quite sure one or more of the pulleys (or perhaps the subframe?) was damaged by them.

I am looking to perhaps purchase or trade, but I need to know I have a reliable, honest dealer to work with.

Any suggestions? I am near the Fox Valley, but would be willing to travel a bit for service and sales that I can trust!

Currently I own a 2013 Simplicity Conquest 2750 with cast iron MTD wheel weights, a 2" receiver hitch and a Johnny Bucket Jr., an awesome Polar cart, an unimpressive (but working) 15 year old AgriFab lawn sweeper, a surprisingly excellent 185 pound AgriFab tow-behind broadcast spreader and a high-quality Strongway Acreage Rake.
From 1996 until 2015 I owned a White LT-16 Vanguard V-twin and 2 stage blower
In 1991 I purchased a used 1984 Gilson 16 HP opposed twin. It was a horse!

Nobody has a Simplicity dealer that they like and trust in Wisconsin?

I deal with Wales Lawn and Garden. They have never been anything but exceptional to deal with, and I have been dealing with them for over 7 years with my Legacy XL. The service in the front as well as the back (service & repair area) of the house is stellar, Great groiup of people and I would be willing to continue to deal with them even if I were to move out of state. The coustomer is thier priority as far as I have dealt. Hope this helps.

I've dealt with Persha equipment in Mayville and they seem like really nice people, I bought my last XL from them.

Re: Decent, reliable dealers in Wisconsin?

Bill,

Thanks, it does help. Wales is over 2 hours away, so it might not be a first choice, but it is very nice to know there are good dealers out there.

Andy, also thanks. I see the guys in Mayville always advertising or posting their new and used machines on CL, but without knowing anything about them, it is hard to justify a long drive. They are perhaps 75 minutes away and I may stop down there one of these days. I would be willing to go that far for good service and fair prices.

Nathan Persha was really nice to deal with and they are a family owned business since 1946, you can check out their website @pershaequipment.com.

Re: Decent, reliable dealers in Wisconsin?

As an aside, we lost our local Simplicity dealer recently. He wasn't very good, anyway. He now carries Husqvarnas, and told me that the most expanse Husky was cheaper than the cheapest Simplicity. I didn't tell him just what I was thinking, and left.

I hear you...

In this day and age, with the internet and instant information, somehow these dealers seem to think they can be "less than honest" to be nice about it.

When purchasing a major item such as a car or truck, the prices paid are identical from dealer to dealer with the exception of delivery charges and a few minors such as dealer holdback and such. In the end, (unless things have changed since I worked at a dealership in college a few decades ago) dealer cost for a vehicle is within about 1-2%. Yet, while some want your business and depend on volume sales to pay their overhead and make a fair profit, others play games to line their pockets with bonus money.

The same seems to be true of Simplicity dealers (and, I am sure, JD dealers, Cub Cadet dealers, etc.)

A fair sales price and good service at a fair price will keep me coming back to any dealership
