Re: Echo SRM 210 Review
I've had two shindiawa trimmers. Currently running a t260. Its heavy(11.2lbs), stout, and reliable. We use it to edge and trim. We have almost as much sidewalk as grass. I got it used and seriously molested by 3 previous "mechanics". A carb rebuild and 10 minutes at the dealer and its been golden ever since. My only complaint is the trimmer heads don't last very long. We spend a lot of time around gravel and concrete and get 2 seasons out of them.
The first was a $20 t20 from a flea market. It was very quiet, light, and smooth. However it got tired after 4 seasons so I retired it. It would still start on 1 pull. Just not enough power for quick work.
I just bought my dad a Redmax 20cc trimmer over the summer for $240. The power head is very compact. Overall weight was around 8.5lbs. Its not as powerful as the t260 but its adequate for all but the heaviest trimming.
I feel shindiawa and redmax often sell the same products. I prefer the shindaiwa blowers, but for trimmers its a toss up. I couldn't find a stihl trimmer that compared in size/ergonomics favorably to the redmax.
