Fan Blade

Is the fan blade really necessary on a Lawn Boy 10424?

I don't think so, that's why I removed mine from my 10420 years ago. I just chocked it up as one of those money making gimmicks that manufacturers sometimes do. Just my opinion, I'm sure there will be others that say they like them.

Re: Fan Blade

Using a Gator blade, the fan "to me" makes a difference on how badly the deck loads up. Using the a standard tri-cut, I don't see as much benefit. I for sure don't like to run the fan when attempting to bag or side discharge.

Since the majority of my blades are Gator and I tend to use my LB for side discharge, I rarely have the fan on my 10515 through the first half of the season. I may finally put it on when I swap blades half way through the season since the grass slows down growing and dries out a bit making mulching an option.

It is all personal preference. Some like it, some don't.

Re: Fan Blade

Yeah give or take on them. For mulching they maybe better, but really the staggered deck lawnboys mulch so good it doesn't matter. I have used them and not used them and honestly I couldn't tell a bit of difference. If you are mulching the lawnboy is the best mower around period with or without that fan.

Lawnboys! Yeah I have some...
