Default snapper yt12d rear end fluid?

On the left rear side cover I took off the rubber gromet and it looks like its full of bearing grease. Is this right? I cant seem to find what the fluid is to be.
Any help out there? Thanks in advanced for any help with this....

According to the manual for transmission differential remove check plug on the inside of the unit to check level of oil. add snapper #0 grease as needed thru upper fill hole to bring level up to the lower of the check plug hole. reinstall plugs. (chain case) remove plug and check if dry, add 1 ounce of snapper 0 grease do not overfill. Total capacity must not exceed 2 ounces. These our direct quotes from a yt 12d series 4 tractor manual
