Re: 486.24837 & 486.24838 42” SnowBlower Attachment
Glad you got it! The performance over 1 winter has been great and went through 3+' of snow like butter and threw as far as i needed to at ~15-30' away.
Only mechanical gripe I have is the lift arm, which is hollow tubular steel.. The long handle seems to flex a bit when lifting the weight of the auger/housing, which is pretty heavy. I might hammer pieces of rebar into it to strenthen it up where it bends/attaches. Also, it doesn't lift too high (~3") when up, which can be a problem on steep hills, such as when approaching a sloped drive from a flat road or getting over a curb, if you have to.
I used it and abused it about 4-5 major snows (2+ feet) and several 'regular' snows and it's running strong. Didn't break any shear bolts or belts (knock on wood) over the season.
The non mechanical gripe is when fine, fresh blown snow power comes back at your face and gets in your collar. Nothing like that feeling.
PS.. get a set of chains and some rear / wheel weights. With new turf tires, me (270lbs) and 55lb weights on each rear wheel, traction was still an issue , until I got some chains from tirechains.com.
