I have a 25hp six gear transaxle GT5000 that the ground belt jumped. My problem is that I am having trouble getting the new belt on the big pulley on the transaxle. Seems like there is some kind of crossmember that holds the transaxle in place and it is so close to the pulley I can't seem to get the new belt around it. It also seems like the crossmember acts as some kind of guide to keep the belt from jumping but that makes no sense to me because it is bolted to the transaxle. My father in law lost my owners manual so I out of luck there and the sears/craftsman site was useless. Any help would be great. I need it . thanks in advance!
I have not had to change the drive belt in my GT but I JUST put a new drive belt on a Craftsman II that is just about as difficult and tight as one could possibly make it . The axle pulley is so close to the sides and top of the deck it took quite abit of finessing to get it on .
Jes keep trying, I had to take bolts out of the belt guides to let the guides just hang freely so I could manuever the belt around. Good Luck brother .
Thanks guy's, I appreciate the advice! This thing has been killing me . I broke my back in september and I'm finally up and about but I got to get this thing fixed so I can plow my drive way. Thanks again guy's.
Come to find out when the belt jumped off the pulley it went to the left side of the pulley and ripped a bigchunck out of the belt. the only way to get the belt off was to cut it. The new belt went on in a jiffy no problem, they left extra room on the right side so you can only do from that side. I appreciate the input guy's thanx.
