A plastic 55 Gallon Barrel cut in thirds, set atop a frame of 2x4s and 4x4s. A little dirt, some seeds......

Should make it a little tougher for the rabbits to get at the lettuce.

Oh yeah, that third section of the barrel from the middle with no ends? Makes a good weedeater shield to put around a tree or shrub.

nice, you will have to keep us posted throughout your growing season.

I went to containers last year. 5 gal buckets to be exact, my till garden was overrun with creeping charlie a invasive weed. So went to the buckets, no weeding, no wasted water, and could control growing conditions somewhat.

It did OK. Put one cherry tomato plant and some baby red potatoes in one and some lettuce in the other.

The lettuce didn't do real well, got overgrown easily and didn't taste all that great.

The cherry tomatoes were good and plentiful. The plant probably hit 5 or 6 feet tall. Had to add a wire tomato cage and some lashing to keep it upright. Potatoes were good, but there were only a few.

Really had to watch the water though, especially after the plants got big. It would dry out fast. Had to water every couple of days.
