Sterling bath tub -- thoughts on them

We are in the middle of remodeling a bathroom. We went to purchase a tub today and had a Kohler picked out prior to heading the Lowes and Home depot. Lowes tried to talk us into a sterling tub. What is everyones thoughts on them? I'm concerned they said the white is different than the Kohler white stool and sinks we have picked out.

My grandpa is a retired plumber and swears by Kohler. Is it worth the extra money?

Not sure but Sterling might be the Kohler value line.

I have installed both Sterling and Kohler and the Kohler cast iron gets my vote. A bit more cash but worth it.

If your concerned with the colors, I would stick with all the same manuf. Looking at the history of Sterling on their website, they used to be a faucet manuf. that Kohler bought out in the mid 80's, then bought other lines and added them to the Sterling line. So by that description, I would say Sterling is a lesser brand of Kohler. Maybe check out American Standard. I have installed a bunch of stuff from them and really like it.

The vitreous china and cast iron Kohler products are good, but beware of any faucets made by Kohler.....Home Depot sells a much lesser grade than what Kohler is capable of...I had a heck of a time keeping the drain assembly from leaking being they are plastic and hard to tighten without cracking something.... As mentioned before....Sterling is similar to a Cadillac to a Chevy downgrade...subsidiary of Kohler.
