WHEEL HORSE ELECTRO 12 ..hydraulic TRANSMISSION

HI. Im working on A electro 12 . the transmission slips under load like a steep hill, it goes about half way and stops. It is fine on flat ground and the accessory hydraulics work (plow) no eradic squeels or purging just stops. I checked the fluid, linkage belt and pullys. Are these known for this should I look for a replacement or is a rebuild possible. I know this guy uses this tractor hard pushing trees and snow especially this year. any help appreciated.
thanks. Bill

this is probelly that the rear is bad they are very expensive to rebuilt from what i have been told and you might have beter luck finding another tractor running for the price of rebuild or replacing the rear but you might find a rear

rebuilding can be done if you ship it off and pay to ship both ways and the rebuild is about 500.00 so like kustoms find another one with a good tranny O shipping isnt cheap eithor.
there was a thread on rebuilding them

If it aint red
its not worth having

Have you checked all the really obvious stuff like a slipping belt?

Good place to start.

As well I would go to the Toro site and download the manual. There is extensive information on the Sundstrand Hydro that could include something helpful. (Go to https://lookup3.toro.com/partdex/ind...s&xCaller=Toro, enter 'Electro 12' for product name and drill down to the manuals. Or maybe you need to find the model number and enter here: https://lookup3.toro.com/request/request.cfm using 'none' for the serial number.)

I think there are check valves and possibly other minor things that can be repaired that might be the problem.

This unit may also be filled with ATF. You can replace that with 10W-40 engine oil (if you completely change to engine oil) and perhaps the extra viscosity could help build more pressure. Toro issued a bulletin on how to do that that you can search for.

Those are things I'd look into before I started looking for a replacement trans.

Good luck!
