Without knowing the specific model, but taking what you have said here and in the other thread, this sounds like a fimiliar problem. If you can run a small wire from the + battery terminal and touch it to the starter solinoid (with the key on) and it cranks, you have a saftey switch relay that's broken.
Somewhere on the machine there will be a small, about 1" square black cube with several wires plugged into it, usually around the engine area. As for testing it, I'm not too sure how, and wiring around it would cause all your saftey switches to not work. Can't hurt to try a new one from your dealer, plug it in and see if it works, if not... well I'm out of suggestions without more details...
I ran Dixons for years, probably logged 6 to 8 thousand hours on then over the course of 4 or 5 of them. Ran the 5022/5023 models mostly but started with a 30", then a 42" then moved up to the 50". The saftey switch relay was a really common problem.
