Help Dixon ZTR Electrical Problems

My dixon mower is having an electrical issue. The mower has power but will not turn over. i can hear the anti-backfire clicking when I turn the key on. I also took a multimeter to the solenoid I have power going to it but non coming from it when I turn the key. I also tried a different relay and that did not fix anything. Is the solenoid bad or is there another thing that could be bad?

Operator presence switch? Safety switch in or under the seat? Blade switch engaged by accident?

Re: Dixon ZTR Electrical Problems

Without knowing the specific model, but taking what you have said here and in the other thread, this sounds like a fimiliar problem. If you can run a small wire from the + battery terminal and touch it to the starter solinoid (with the key on) and it cranks, you have a saftey switch relay that's broken.

Somewhere on the machine there will be a small, about 1" square black cube with several wires plugged into it, usually around the engine area. As for testing it, I'm not too sure how, and wiring around it would cause all your saftey switches to not work. Can't hurt to try a new one from your dealer, plug it in and see if it works, if not... well I'm out of suggestions without more details...

I ran Dixons for years, probably logged 6 to 8 thousand hours on then over the course of 4 or 5 of them. Ran the 5022/5023 models mostly but started with a 30", then a 42" then moved up to the 50". The saftey switch relay was a really common problem.
