Re: John Deere 185 Hydro

There is no pdf manuals available online anywhere. You can purchase the manuals from JD Tech publications,, or order them from a JD dealer. You would need the serial number from the tractor to be sure you get the right operator's manual, which are OMM95262 or OMM95262CD (CD version) for serial numbers 010001-420000, OMM72257 or OMM72277CD for s/n 420001-475000, OMM75874 or OMM75874CD for s/n 475001 & 595000, OMM78999 or OMM78999CD for s/n 595001 & up. The service manuals are TM1351 or TM1351CD. There are manuals for the attachments, and there is a manual for the Kawasaki engine, CTM5 or CTM5CD. Be prepare the manuals are not cheap, especially the service (technical) manuals.

The PCs (parts catalogs) are PC2056 or PC2056CD. The PC can be accessed online at You can register or not, but registering is free and will allow you to check prices, your dealer's inventory, and you can place an order and pick it up through your dealer. There is an tutorial on how this works at that site.

Oh, btw, the 185 is the hydro version of the 180, which has a 5 speed Peerless transmission. The earlier 185's had an Eaton hydrostatic transmission, while the later 185s had a stronger Sundstrand hydrostatic unit in them.

Re: John Deere 185 Hydro

I bought a PDF technical manual and a hardcopy owners manual on Ebay for my 170. Both cover the 185 as well. Price was reasonable for both.

Good luck - JMJ

Re: John Deere 185 Hydro

Yep, i have 2-185 hydro's and they are a great machine. You can find most anything you need for them on ebay. If memory serves, the owners manual for the 185 is also the manual for the 180, 170, and 175. They are a very simple machine, and they are tough. Take care of that Kawasaki engine and it'll take care of you. Joe

I don't know anything and i can prove it!
