Default LA110 Deck Question

Hi Everyone,

I just purchased a 2002 LT160 that someone had put a new 48" deck on (not sure what model it came on originally). They also gave me the original 42" deck. I am going to remove the 48" deck, but the PTO will not work with it. The blades will be spinning the whole time if I leave it on.

I also have a JD LA110 with a 42" deck. Can I remove the 48" deck from the LT160 and put it on the LA110? Will I have the same issue?

Any feedback is appreciated. The LT160 is my first venture into the JD models not loaded with MTD components.

The 48" deck is basically new with the exception of 3 mows. Would I be safer just selling this deck?

No JD has ever had MTD components except some older walk behinds.. The LT series and the L100 series are pretty different but the decks may hook up the same.. Does the LT have an electric PTO clutch? if so, the deck will turn on and off with the switch

The 48" deck is actually from a JD D140 (just talked to the previous owner of the LT). I do not believe it is compatible with the LA110 (it is "The Edge" deck). I guess I have a 48" deck for sale.

Thank you for responding. Is the LT Series a higher quality product than the LA110? I am selling one of them and trying to decide which.

First; I believe the 48" deck off of a D140 should fit on an LA110. The LAs and the Ds are basically the same tractors.

Second; The LT series is a better tractor than the LA series. The LT series tractors compare to the current X300/X304, the LX series compare to the current X320/X360 tractors.

Thank you Steve. I thought it would fit the 110 as well. However, according to the below link the 130 is the lowest LA series it is compatible with.

That is due to horsepower limitations. If it's from a D140, it should fit an LA110. Don't worry about the HP difference. it will run it fine. Just try to fit it up, and you might be supprised. Only thing I can think of is if it is specially for an electric PTO tractor..

The LT tractor is 1 step above the old Scotts/ Sabre JD's and the L/LA series when their production run's overlapped.. It's a step below the LX series which was replaced by the X300 series
