X530 54" deck adjustment?

I took the blower off my X530 and put the 54" deck on(first time). I checked the level and it wasn't anywhere close. I check the air in the tires and they were fine. So I started with the back two adjusting screws. I set the deck adjustment setting to the recommended position(2.5) Then I used the height gauge. First on the right side, then the left. When I finished with right side there was approximately 1/2 of thread sticking through the nut at the bottom of the screw. But the left side was different. I screwed the adjusting screw all the way until the thread was even with the bottom of the nut and I was still 1/8 over the gauge(between the deck and the gauge). This can't be normal. In theory, if the bolts were the same length then shouldn't there be the same amount of thread sticking through both nuts? Something just seems very strange to me.
Any help?

Re: X530 54" deck adjustment?

Two things:
On my x728 there are two holes on each draft arm that I could use for the linkage. If your x5xx has two also, have you confirmed that you are using the same hole on both sides.
And, with a wide deck like the 54" you have a lot of overhang from linkage to blade tip. When I am leveling, I try to attack both sides, raising the low side a full turn and lowering the high side a full turn then re-measure.

Good luck, your work now will be paid in full when you look at the finished mowing job. My neighbor seems oblivious to the terracing he creates with his uneven deck.

Re: X530 54" deck adjustment?

I have not checked to see if there are two different holes. I will check that. I did notice that the tool they supply to make the adjustment just barely fits into the adjusting screw because of the angle of the screw.
Thanks for the help.
