#10 Cart Restoration (Decals?)

I recently bought a #10 (2 PIECE BOX) Cart from a local guy on CL for $35. It's pretty rusty--but I figured that starting price would be worth turning it into a restoration project. I got it all dissembled--power washed--and am currently working on grinding down all surface rust with a pad for my drill. I'm not going for or expecting perfect--but I do want the original decals on the side when I am finished. I was thinking about masking them off, but have roughed them up a bit with the rust pad and the one side was bad from the get. I am a graphic designer by trade--and have measured out everything to recreate the decal by cutting vinyl--but it would be 10X easier to just buy the OG decals.

I tracked down JD part numbers as; M75999 LABEL 1 (LH) (SUB M75998). Can't find them anywhere...Am I just missing a good source for these somewhere or are they long discontinued?

I honestly think it would be easier and cheaper for you to just make the decals and here's why.

#1 you're probably looking at $35-40 for the decals if you can find a set.
#2 if you mess up applying them you're up the creek, you're out $35-40 plus whatever it costs to make a new set.

I'd just make a set and be done with it. Just my 2c

Shawn I just looked up the labels on JD Parts and they have good part numbers for both sides of the 10 cart labels. One side is 130950 and the other is 130951. Since they show prices I would assume they can still be bought. At my dealer they labels are $22.82 each. They should look like the label on my 7 Cart which is the closest one in the picture but says 7 instead of 10. Roger

Shawn,

I am attaching a photo of a #18 JD Cart that shows the type of decal that JD subs to when you order replacements I went through the same thing in preparation to restore a #15 cart that I own. What I ended up doing (via a tip from one of the WFM site members) was to order a set of decals sold aftermarket on eBay that were meant for use on farm tractors. The kit came with long "tiger striped" decals that looked very similar to the original ones on my #15 cart except they were a little wider and they had to be trimmed on the end for length since they were intended to go on a longer farm tractor hood. The decal kit also came with a series of different numbers to accomodate varied tractors that I could use numbers from to depict the number fifteen and those numbers were applied in the long yellow section of the "striped" decal. Hope this makes sense. I'm also including a photo of a cart (non-JD) that the WFM member applied to a cart he had reworked to give you an idea of the outcome and a photo of my #15 cart which I have yet to finish. I am also including a photo of the decal set as it came from eBay but I do not know if tis kit is listed on eBay or if it is even still available..............Hope this is of some help to you not just muddying the waters further.................Gary

I came across that WFM post in my scouring for the decals and I never could find that decal set mentioned there. If the Deere dealer confirms that the available set is the new style and not tiger style--I am just going to cut my own using my brother's vinyl plotter. I did some meticulous measuring on the original decal and was able to design up a pretty accurate replica. Now the trick will be finding a roll of vinyl in Deere yellow for a reasonable price.
