GX At Work

A few years back I rented a 6000 lb mini excavator and dug up some huge stumps. I put them in the back corner of my lot and waited for nature to do it's thing. Recently I have been able to break off some of the good sized roots and take them down to the burn pile. Today I decided to see if I could get the rest moved. I did have to make 2 cuts on the biggest stump which didn't do my chain any good. Had to resharpen 1/2 way through.

I have done a couple of threads on the "boom pole" or "wrecker boom" which uses an Invacare Hoyer Patient lift upright and cylinder section. It's incredibly handy. A couple of the stump sections were still wet and too heavy to carry so I just hooked a rope to them and started dragging. The GX didn't even groan. No problem at all.

Nice!

I'm curious...Did you have to make any special provisions or brackets to run just the upper hood and grill? I have an upper hood and grill for my 345 but I'm just too cheap to buy a lower. Your "half plastic" setup looks much better then my "no plastic" look.

Thanks

I call it the Hot Rod Hood. I have done 2 of these. On the second I did use 1" angle alum and I think that is the way to go. The 3/4" just doesn't have enough area left where it has holes drilled in it. Even so the original Hot Rod Hood is still doing just fine. I like to over engineer everything

Awesome Rayjay! It sure did work a treat! I have that same lift, I should look up your thread on it, could use it more if mobile in bad weather like now. The tiny wheels make it hard to move with bad back.

Eric, the thing is a life saver if you have physical issues.

Re: GX At Work

I now do my friend! The lift could really help me if used more often. Need to make it more mobile as it moves too hard for me right now.
Now I wonder if I could rig it up to the three point hitch of my Sears Suburban?

Re: GX At Work

Remembered I could mount it to my WheelHorse as well. Got a couple options now. The lift is buried in over 2' of snow after storm. Got time to plan it out I guess!
Thanks for reminder rayjay! Very happy you did it, makes my back happy just thinking of the help!
