Re: pto use in reverse
I remember when I was trying to figure out how the RIO worked on my GT225 ( you decide why). I was amazed to see how much engineering John Deere had invested in creating that device. I could see it was made to out last the mower, and therefore, not cheap to make. Yet, if you are like me, and must mow a rather large yard, with lots of tight spaces and obstacles, that force you to reverse a lot, that device is a madding thing to try to tolerate. So, it is not surprising there are so many posts asking how to disable it, and I suppose because of this most RIO devices are disabled, sooner or later. This is the fatal flaw in the whole idea. And even for those few operators that do tolerate them there is no guarantee they will actually look behind the tractor when they do back up. What it chiefly does it protect the manufacturer, somewhat, from lawsuits. But, it just maybe, there somewhere, at some time, it may have prevented a few terrible accidents from happening. I really do hope so.
