Big Buck

Hi my name is Brock and I am 20yrs old, and i recently picked up a John deere 65 rer for free. Motor went bad because the rings were wore and oil would pour out the carbs until it blew up. I then decided to make it the donor for my next project, a monster mower. I stripped it down and replaced the engine with a 16hp B&S twin cylinder. Lifted the mower 8" so far and put 5 bolt rims on front and back. I plan on making fender for it and eventually making it 4 wheel drive. Just thought I'd share this with anyone who is interested in building one. Here is progress so far. Thanks.

Re: Big Buck

First picture is before I lifted the front end, and after I cut the seat down, and extended the rear with another mower rearend. Second, is after I lifted the front and cut the fenders back for a better look. Using a wheel horse gas tank under the seat and the original transmission but moving it to inder the frame. Used some regualar craftsman hubs in the back and cut them in half, marked my 5 bolt pattern and drilled holes. They turned out well and pretty straight. Still need to bolt in the engine and run all the controls. The last pic is of the front after I extended the axels 8'' taller to level out the frame. The 4 wheel drive will come later after i get it all put together and running well.

Re: Big Buck

I'm picturing a rear hitch with a cultivator that would allow you to stradle a row and cultivate on either side. I don't know if there is tobacco up there, but down here you could put fenders on that protect the plants and spray you tobacco with that too. Whatever you do with it great job so far and keep us posted.

And I take pride in everything I've got
